The Office of Violence Prevention and Trauma Recovery was created in 2020 as part of Mayor Ras J. Baraka’s mission to reimagine public Safety. OVPTR addresses violent crime and trauma by providing improved access to social services, intervention programs and approaching violence as a public health matter.

    The City of Newark's Juvenile Curfew Program promotes youth safety and community well-being by encouraging compliance with local curfew regulations, connecting families to supportive resources, and helping reduce youth involvement in crime and violence during late-night hours.

    Through education, outreach, and community partnerships, the program works to create safer neighborhoods for Newark's youth and families.
